Bible verses about gratitude and thankfulness
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 is the passage: rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks. Read the preposition carefully — it says in everything, not for everything. You are not being asked to be grateful that the worst thing happened. You are being asked to find something to be thankful for while you're in it. That's a much more possible instruction, and a much kinder one.

Gratitude as a practice, not a personality
Psalm 100:4 describes entering God's gates with thanksgiving — an action taken at a threshold, not a mood you wait to feel. Psalm 103:1-2 has the writer instructing his own soul to bless the LORD and, specifically, to forget not all his benefits, which implies forgetting is the default. Both treat thankfulness as something you do on purpose, usually when you don't feel like it.
The one for a good day
Psalm 118:24 — this is the day that the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Worth having for ordinary Tuesdays as well as big ones. Most days are not remarkable, and this verse doesn't require them to be.

Because gratitude has a memory problem. Psalm 103 is right that the default is forgetting, and the honest reason most gratitude practices fail is that nobody reminds you. That's a small problem, and it happens to be one a phone is good at.
